Sale at Babies R Us. Very fun time. |
The smallest brown on the right that you can't see is for Grayson. I made Jackson a big one for Easter. Didn't know about Gray then. |
Ok, I guess this isn't for Grayson, but I will make him one to match since they'll be sharing a room. |
Hi all. Yesterday was a perfectly nice, non golf-on-t.v. day for once. Hubby and son went down to do some work at a job site and then we all headed to uptown to look for a freezer. Doesn't sound too exciting? That's cuz you're not me! lol (I'm starved for mental stimulation...no jokes please.) We also headed over to the Galleria and had lunch at my fave place Big Bowl. Chopsticks and all. Num-E! On our way home we stopped at a couple Schmitt Music stores to find Metallica for the violin. (Chuckle) We ended up with the Beatles and some songs from LOTR and some other movies. Here's a story from yesterday as I told it on Facebook:
Ok, so we were at Schmitt Music in Brklyn. Ctr. yesterday and I happened to ask the guy working there if he'd experienced any ghosts. (Cuz all the local ghost books say there's at least one in there.) He said no and explained how each version of the ghost stories was wrong. HOWEVER, in the spring, once it starts warming up...there are s-n-a-k-e-s, yes you read that rightly, SNAKES! that drop. from. the. ceiling!
Honestly, I think I'd rather see ghosts. lol
Can you believe that?!! Apparently the snakes (garters) come in during the autumn when it starts to get cold and voila! there they are in the spring.
In happier Schmitt related news - my wonderful hubby encouraged me to sign up for piano lessons. I have always wanted to play piano. We finally bought one about nine yrs ago, but then I lost my job and couldn't afford lessons. I tried teaching myself through dvd's etc. That doesn't work very well. I can play Mary Had a Little Lamb, Jingle Bells and Ode to Joy with some chords, but that's it. I hope by next year I can play Christmas carols on Christmas Eve and all that family type stuff. :-)
On Saturday my dd wrote on FB that she'd like to see a Twins game before her newest edition of human (baby) comes. Little Grayson is due in a few weeks. Anyway - what started out as just her and me going - turned into all four of us getting perfect seats (for over $200!) and having an excellent time. The Twins even won. Wonder of wonders. We took mass transit. No comment. Oi.
Lately I've been crocheting a lot more than knitting. Here are some items:
As you can see, while I love neutrals and 'boy colors', I've had my fill for awhile. I'm 42 and finally turning into a girl! lol
OK, off to finish my floppy brimmed summer hat - and probably a beach bag to go with it. Thanks for stopping by.
Aug. 2, 2012 update: Here's the floppy hat, a pattern on Ravelry (for free) called Adorable Ruffles. I didn't use dk wt., used worsted instead, with a 4 mm. hook (!!) so it turned out larger than I'd planned. It fits my 13 yr old! Still, it's really cute and I'm hooking a bag to go with it.

The dk. purple is from my stash. That's what I'm using for the beach bag. It'll be nice to get that huge 710 yds. skein out of storage. |

Ok folks: You've got to quit thinking of Obama as some poor, sweet, persecuted black person and start giving him the credit he deserves: that of a grown adult who makes his own choices and let him take the consequences. Liberals are so damned brain-dead when it comes to the big O. What do you guys think you're proving? What is it you think you're creating? There will never be a utopian paradise here on Earth. Not through socialism and other childish thinking. Pay attn. to this video and just try to argue these things. Actually don't, just don't re-elect this jackass.
